OVERALL PERSONALITY:
[ C O N F U S E D ]*
One main problem with Remy is that he doesn't really know much about himself. All he knows is that he has a strange urge to do exciting things and also an overwhelming urge to lie all the time. Because of all the lying Gambit doesn't even really know much about himself. If there is anyone Gambit lies to more, it's himself. Most of the outrageous things he says to people he has convinced himself that he believes as well. Sometimes Gambit doesn't understand the line between real and fictional. He's always finding new ways to make a story bigger and better. But there is still an underlying confusion deep in Remy. All the boy really needs is to figure out who he really is aside from the boy who can't stop lying.
[ F R I E N D L Y ]*
Gambit can be a little on the hyper side. He's sweet and easy going as long as no one is getting on his nerves. Most of the time Remy will wear a crooked smile and talk about the most random things ever. He's generally laid back and easy going. Remy, despite his appearance has a vulnerable nature about him. He has the kind of personality that can easily draw people in. It's sort of magnetic in a way. Gambit loooves getting to know people and hearing their stories as well though he's never honest with his own. He is a friendly guy for sure and he will always listen to people. Still, as much as Gambit likes being there for other people he doesn't like talking about his own problem.
[ L I A R ]*
Gambit never tells the truth. Okay, well, sometimes he does, but most of the time he lies. There are times when Remy doesn't want to lie... he just can't help it. Lying is a part of him. He can't tell a straight story to save his life. That's the reason that Gambit can only keep peoples' attention for a certain amount of time. When people find out about his problem he can't keep friends at all. He's not really close to people in general just because he always lies to them. One thing that Remy is skilled in, though, is knowing when other people are lying to him. He's the kind of liar that can tell a sotry and make it sound extremely believable. Because Remy is so skilled in lying he is close to a human lie detector. But Remy doesn't really care if people lie to him.
[ G A M B L E R ]*
Gambit will never back down from a challenge. He loved to be tested. The guy really has no limits as to how far he will go. But depending on what it is he has to do, well, there would have to be a decent bet on the table. He isn't afraid to get extreme. As happy-go-lucky as Gambit seems, his life really isn't all that important to him. Remy wants to live an exciting life while he can, but if it were to be cut short, well, he's not afraid of death obviously. This boy is pretty fearless unless it involved needles or doctors. Those are his two main fears.

OVERALL HISTORY:
Rembert James Holland was born to a fifteen year old girl named Miranda Carmichael. His father, James Holland, had been seventeen at the time. At that point the two of them were destined to marry. James's parents, who were both conservative Christians, urged their son to step up and take the place of the boy's father. Miranda, however, wasn't so eager to let that happen. She didn't want to get married and such a young age do she and James remained partners for the time being. Rembert mostly stayed at his grandparent's house during the day while both his parents were at school. His grandmother's constant complaint was that he was a whiney little cuss. And that, rembert was. His grandfather never missed a beat in saying it was because the kid knew his name. That was the beginning of Rembert James Holland. A boy born to two kids too oyung to know the meaning of being real parents.
As time went on Rembert began to be a little more active. He was accurately described as a little ball of energy. Once he learned to walk he was all over the place, his grandparents having to chase after him. After a year Remy's father wanted to go off to college to be a psychologist. This meant nothing to Remy, but everything to Miranda, who would be left to raise a son on her own. James was off over the summer to Princeton to study in the psychology field. Miranda dropped out of school, intending to take care of Rembert so James's parents didn't have to. She soon found out exactly what James's parents had been complaining about. Miranda decided that to pay for food she would have to get a job. He first job was as an amature actress. Her first movie wasn't a huge hit, but it got her noticed for sure.
Remy began going on set with his mother, playing by himself when she had to go shoot a scene. He had an unnatural attachment to his mother. She was the only one Remy was really all that close to. But a lot of worry began to spring forward when Remy completely stopped sleeping. For days he would stay awake and just draw. By this time Remy was six years old and James was already headed back with a degree. What Remy would do was pretend to go to sleep, but sneak up at night and draw pictures of skeletons. It was a strange occurrence, but Miranda had just thought 'boys will be boy's and went on with it. By the time Remy was eight Miranda and James had been married, though for the sake of her career Miranda kept her last name. Remy still went with his mother to the sets when he wasn't in school.
James began to worry about their son's strange behavior so he set up councelling sessions with his son, periodically asking him questions, all of which would be greeted with an obvious lie. James, convinced something was wrong with Remy, suggest they send him somewhere to knock the lying problem out of him. Miranda wasn't happy about this suggestion. She claimed nothing was wrong with Remy and that he would stay put. When Remy's condition worsened it wasn't the lying his parents were worried about, but the fact that their son was an insomniac who drew skeletons at night. James started his son going to see a different kind of therapist. Even the therapist was stumped by Rembert. Remy would never tell a story the same way once to the therapist. Just when the doctor would be getting somewhere Rembert would change courses.
Remy was diagnosed, finally, with paranoid skizophrenia. This was not the right diagnosis, but it was one nonetheless. Without Miranda's knowledge James sent Rembert to an institution for the mentally ill. It was there that Remy met most of his childhood friends. He was ten years old upon entering the asylum. Rembert talked to anyone and everyone he could talk to, the lying still as prominent as ever. The kids there had taken to calling Remy Gambit because of his name and partly because of Remy's need to take a bet. He was thirteen when his mother finally came to get him. Miranda took James and moved him in with her, in a mansion in Chicago. Rembert managed to remember his mother by watching her movies over and over again. He knew them line by line. Gambit never asked questions about where his father was or what had happened between them. He liked making up stories about that.
Eventually Remy was really pressured. His schooling had been screwed up a lot. Even in classes Remy could never be honest about anything. His mother got fed up with his constant lying. He was of the college age at that point and she thought it best that he got out of the house. Pulling some financial strings, Miranda was able to have her son enrolled at Camden despite his shady academic record.
