OVERALL PERSONALITY:
[ A W K W A R D ]
Lyla is the girl that people love to forget. She doesn't make a huge impact on people. Randomly walking up to people and starting a conversation just isn't her style. More often than not she tends to make a complete fool of herself because of how clumsy and unbalanced she is. Lyla tends to say things that don't sound as good as she thought them to sound in her head. Usually Lyla tries to avoid too much social interaction, but she's really quite charming if anyone could get her in an actual conversation. When she gets nervous Lyla tends to stammer and stutter. It's a nervous habit that she has had since childhood. These things tend to make Lyla a pretty awkward person to hang out with. She really does tend to make a fool of herself without meaning to. Most awkward girl on the planet award should go to Lyla Anderson.
[ S W E E T H E A R T ]
Lyla really is a sweet girl. She will do anything for anyone she trusts... and it's not very hard to gain her trust. Because Lyla is surprisingly oblivious, she doesn't really think about people having a bad side. It's so easy for her to be taken advantage of. The good thing is that most of the time Lyla wouldn't even realize that was what was happening. She generally goes with the flow doing random good deeds and always willing to help out someone that asks her. People do tend to walk all over Lyla... use her once, then forget she even existed. But Lyla never stops to think that people might be doing that sort of thing. When she talks to people at all she tends to hope to find that kind of undying friendship... because she's been moved around so much in her life she doesn't really know what it's like to have real friends. Lyla is always having to start over. This time she hopes to find something a little more permanent.
[ P U R E ]
This girl is the definition of pure. She's never done anything considered bad or illegal. If you try talking to her about sex... prepare because she won't know what the hell you're talking about. Lyla is a simple girl who likes to come by things honestly. Her ideals on love are not quite etched in stone yet. Most things Lyla wouldn't argue about because she hasn't taken the time to form an opinion on much of anything. She isn't the kind of person that would debate someone else's lifestyle. Lyla found that the one thing she did believe was that a person should live the way that makes them happy. That doesn't mean that Lyla does that... just means that she understands other people doing that. Lyla is not always a ray of sunshine. She has her sadder moments, but she is well guarded about them. The chick is a mastermind at changing subjects.
[ E X T R E M E ]
Lyla likes to do some dangerous things. She's always tempting fate doing stunts and sports that no one would be insane enough to try. One of her favorite activities is bungee diving from bridges. Lyla doesn't appear to be an extreme chick. This is the girl that people would love to know... but don't get to. What Lyla does... is try new, exciting, dangerous things, then writes about them in her journal. She writes about what she feels, how she did it, and what was going through her head in those exact moments. It's just sort of something Lyla acquired from the fact that her father was in the Army and always tried new and exciting things. It was passed down to Lyla for sure. She loved trying new things and if someone knew that... well, it could easily be taken advantage of.
[ D I S O R D E R ]
The one thing about Lyla that sets her apart is her eating disorder. Lyla suffers from anorexia. She generally feels nauseous when even looking at food. Even though Lyla is grossly underweight... she still thinks that her weight is the reason no one likes her. Lyla feels that if she can fit into a size 0 that she will be liked by everyone and people will notice that she is there. That's all Lyla really wants is for someone to finally notice her and accept her despite her shortcomings.

OVERALL HISTORY:
[ B I R T H: SELMA AND RICHARD ]
Selma Murray and Richard Anderson met on an Army base. Young Selma was endeavoring to write a novel about a young soldier who met and fell in love with a young German woman during World War II. To get to know more about how the Army did things Selma had to get down on the scene. That was where she met Richard, who became her number one inspiration very quick. Two summers after meeting Selma, Richard proposed to her. It was quite the spectacle. Richard flew high in an Army plane, leaving a trail of smoke in the shape of 'will you marry me?' Selma gladly accepted and the two were married within the following four months. Soon after that Lyla was conceived. Their baby girl was born in Augusta, Georgia, where her father was stationed at the time. The happy family lived there until Lyla was about two years old.
[ T H E F I R S T M O V E: STILL YOUNG ]
The first move was to California, where Richard was stationed at Fort Irwin. Selma stayed at home with Lyla while Richard did his duties for the Army. Eventually not having Richard around a lot was starting to get to Selma. Lyla didn't so much as realize she had a father... that was how much Richard wasn't around at home. It was also during this time that Selma discovered she had cancer. With Lyla still being a baby, Selma was forced to tell only Lyla, since Richard wasn't around enough to hear it. It wasn't like Lyla would go blurting it out... except the now three year old... did exactly that. Lyla wasn't aware of the things that made a secret a secret. During one of the nights Richard was able to come home early, little Lyla let her mother's secret slip. Things were difficult after that. All of a sudden neither parent was very present in Lyla's life. Her mother was constantly at the doctor and her father always on the job. They paid a baby sitter to come in every day until a certain time.
[ D E A T H O F A M O T H E R: BEGINNING OF THE END ]
Lyla was five years old when her mother passed away. It was a long two years, but Richard and Selma had spent that time preparing Lyla for what was going to happen. Lyla already had a good idea of what death was before she was five years old. Richard was heartbroken, but there were still things to take care of. Lyla began to idolize her father because he was the only one she had to look up to at that point. By the time Lyla started to get settled in to a life without her mother there it was time to uproot again. This was something that Lyla wasn't quite used to simply because she was too young to remember the first move. All Lyla knew was that she could only ever remember being in California. Then again... Lyla was only five. Her memory couldn't be fully developed. It was a good thing that Lyla seemed to be blessed with a natural ability to adapt to things.
[ T H E S E C O N D M O V E: FAKE FRIENDS ]
The second move was the hardest for Richard at least. Lyla was just excited to get to see a new place. They moved to Berlin, Germany. The Army had offered to pay for Lyla's schooling and childcare as long as Richard took the post in Germany. Lyla started school there in an Army-taught pre-school for children of the officers. It was in Germany that Lyla met another girl about her age name Cheyenne Baker. Cheyenne was a roudy child, but Lyla loved her and wanted to be around her all the time. The thing Lyla didn't know was that Cheyenne wasn't all that fond of her. At the age of eight Lyla had to figure out that Cheyenne was doing all these bad things and blaming them on Lyla. Lyla never saw Cheyenne again because her father was getting moved yet again. Lyla didn't want to lose the friends she thought she had... not even Cheyenne, but it was necessary. Once again Lyla had to pick up and leave.
[ T H E T H I R D M O V E: YOUNG LOVE ]
This time Lyla was moved to England. She had never been told the name of the place they stayed at. Lyla wasn't happy with England. It was dreary and it rained all the time. Lyla never got to do anything and her schooling was intensified since she was getting older. Once a week Lyla was allowed to go into town with supervision. This was when Lyla met her first ever boy friend; Charles Dawson. She would wait until the one day, then eagerly go and meet this boy. Charles would tell her stories of things that had happened in England and Lyla would tell him about life in Germany and what it was like being the daughter of a soldier. Lyla was ten years old when she found out that they would be moving once again, but this time back to the states. Once again Lyla had to bid a friend goodbye. She parted with Charles and was on a plane back to the States.
[ T H E F O U R T H M O V E: HEART PROBLEMS ]
Lyla and Richard took up residence in Florida. This time Lyla was allowed to attend public schools. She didn't exactly fit in. Most of the students pretended that she didn't exist. Then again, she was eleven years old and going into a middle school where people had known each other all their lives. Lyla didn't seem to mind being ignored. After a year or two it really seemed like this would be the place that she would be staying. By the time Lyla hit eighth grade she found a reason for wanting to stay and his name was Tony Fletcher. Tony was out of her reach because he was the most popular boy there. Yet every day Lyla found reasons to get close to him. The last time Lyla had any serious thought of Tony Fletcher, he had accidentally sat on her in the gym because he "didn't see her there." Lyla was going to give up, but she wanted to know what it was that Tony didn't like about her. When Lyla nervously confronted Tony she had to say his name five times before he actually looked at her. Tony preceded, in so many words, to tell Lyla that he thought she was fat.
[ T H E F I F T H M O V E: THE DISORDER ]
For once Lyla was glad to hear that she would be moving again. This time Lyla moved to Oklahoma. Knowing what Tony had thought of her back in Florida, Lyla had developed quite the eating habit by time she entered high school. The first to take notice of this was Richard's new girl friend, Marla Taylor. Richard and Marla urged Lyla to eat more, but she would only pretend and end up throwing it out to the dogs. Her immune system started to crumble as Marla knew it would. When Lyla ended up in a hospital, they knew it was time for affirmative action. Lyla's weight had reached an unhealthy 78 pounds when she was 17, but with a little work and a lot of force feeding, Richard and Marla got her weight back up to 95 pounds. It had been a chore because Lyla was pretty persistent about her disorder, which she didn't believe was an actual problem. Richard and Marla began to keep a sharp eye on her and monitored her eating habits. Then, again, there was another move.
[ T H E S I X T H M O V E: GRADUATION ]
This time the makeshift family moved from Oklahoma to Texas. Lyla didn't have to worry much about people thinking she was fat. She was pretty much just skin and bones at that point. It was in Texas that Lyla graduated highschool. But there were no colleges there that caught her eye. Lyla decided to wait a year and look around at some other colleges before making up her mind right away. Finally, Lyla found a brochure about some schools in Chicago. She took some time to really think about it. Already being 19, Lyla didn't have much time to waste. Lyla decided she did want to move to Chicago. What was one more move to her? So Lyla packed up her stuff, bid goodbye to her father and Marla and left for Chicago. She decided then that she would attend to Harding University so that she would finally have a reason to slack off academically.
